Bullets Thru the Fire
FAKE FLOWERS REAL DIRT
Paul Haney
Keyboardist Paul Haney began his musical career when his parents forced him to join the concert band in fourth grade. Although he endured ridicule for being a “band nerd” from the jocks, he takes solace from the fact that he has the last laugh (the jocks are now beer-bellied couch potatoes, with a pack of bratty kids running wild through the house, while Paul enjoys the limelight of the stage, and the associated groupies that, in principle, hang around the stage in large quantities).
A brief and ill-fated attempt at making the big time hit the end of the road in Baltimore after college. However, it was at that time that he met Billy Martin. One Sunday morning, both extremely hung over, the musicians could tell that they shared a musical chemistry. Shortly thereafter Paul moved to Austin, and after 5 years in the Lone Star state, Paul returned to Washington DC. He played bass for DC’s number one party cover band Over The Line for a couple years, then moved on to play guitar for the always inoffensive cover and original band Curbside Manner. Out of the blue was a call from one Billy Martin - after all those years - who was forming what would later become Fake Flowers Real Dirt. Always restless to expand his musical horizons, Paul had taken up the keyboard and took it to the group, and never looked back.
