Brian Escavage

As a child, Brian Escavage spent most of his time in the video arcade of the Annapolis Mall.  It was there that he would come to the realization that he possessed a skill that would change course of his life.  One day while waiting his turn to play "Mortal Kombat", Brian noticed a strange game in the corner equipped with a mallet and a bunch of holes.  After playing for hours, Brian realized that the game had a certain rhythm to it and as the game's intensity grew, so did Brian's fervor.  After countless hours and thousands of quarters, Brian eventually gave up the mallet and started playing "Wack-a-mole" with his hands as felt he had an unfair advantage.

In March of 1987, while Escavage was just 10 years old and using just one quarter, his play spanned an entire calendar year (from his 10th birthday to his 11th). Brian left the mall that day a new World Record holder and donning a full beard.  Brian has since turned his skills at beating plastic gophers into a full time gig as a percussionist.  He now resides in Severn, MD and has been experimenting with rhythm and sound as well as studying ethnomusicology ever since.

The following shows Brian Escavage's major influence on today's pop culture and although none of this information is verifiable, it certainly doesn't make it any more true.

•  Before Brian Escavage turned 21, he had already amassed licensing credits on "Coming to America", Sesame Street's "Pinball Countdown" with The Pointer Sisters and Gloria Estefan's "Conga" - (Come on, shake your body baby, do the conga) as well as many more.

• The movie "Rocky" used Brian's technique of punching meat to toughen up his hands in the famous "Meat Locker" scene.

• Dave Chapelle used Escavage's "Open Tone" slap technique on Charlie Murphy's face during the the popular skit True Hollywood Stories - Rick James pt.1 - ex. "What did the 5 fingers say to the face?"

• Miley Cyrus took her naked wrecking ball idea from one of Escavage's party tricks.

Throughout Brian's illustrious career, he has played for bands like The Immortal Sound, the Bubba Quintet, Outta Body eXperience  and Emergence before securing a lifetime contract with Fake Flowers Real Dirt.
